First Nations Scholarship

The First Nations Scholarship provides funding and a unique program exclusively for Native students from across the U.S.

About the award

The First Nations Scholarship award covers the direct cost of attendance for Indiana University Bloomington, plus books and supplies for up to four years.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, students must be U.S. residents (in-state or out-of-state), be represented in federally recognized tribal affiliation data, provide official documentation of their tribal identification, and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is available to incoming first-year and transfer students.

How to apply

  1. Submit your complete application for admission to Indiana University Bloomington.

    We recommend submitting by the November 1 early action (non-binding) deadline for highest admission and scholarship consideration.

  2. Complete the General Scholarship Application by February 1.

  3. Complete the First Nations Scholarship supplemental application by February 1.

    • After you’ve submitted the General Scholarship Application, search for “IUB-First Nations Scholarship” in Recommended Opportunities.
    • Complete all questions on the supplemental application.
    • Upload your official documentation of tribal affiliation.
  4. Incoming students will know by March 15 if they have received a scholarship from Indiana University.
