Jalen has traveled to other states and countries through his involvement at IU.
After spending most of his time focused on athletics in high school, Jalen was concerned that he wouldn't find his place when coming to IU and joining the Kelley School of Business. "I kept telling myself I had to get involved right when I got on campus," Jalen said. "I had friends go to IU that just went through the motions, and I didn't want to be that guy."
4 years later, Jalen has been involved in multiple student governments, traveled Europe while abroad, and has gotten to speak at the dedication of the new business school. Jalen credits the friends he made in Kelley Student Government and other organizations for being great mentors and for helping encourage his interests.
That mentorship helped Jalen get an internship and full-time job with McKinsey & Company, which has allowed him to travel to Miami, New York, and Puerto Rico. “Being from Fort Wayne, I didn’t even know a job existed where I could fly around the country every week. The internship was a chance for me to actually apply all my coursework, and have a great time doing it.”
Jalen is staying busy his senior year by working with NASA on an economic development project in California, and attending a business conference in Hong Kong. "I thought I'd want to sit back and relax during senior year, but I've been lucky enough to find things at IU that genuinely excite me!"
