Q&A

Why do you belong at IU?

IU is like me- flexible and diverse. I learn something different every day. It makes me feel at home, like I’m in a family- which is something I did not think I would find in a school of over 30,000.

What do you like most about your major or scholarship program?

I love the closeness of the Hudson & Holland Scholars Program. It prepares us for more than just our education; it trains us for graduate school, internships, and being a well-rounded global citizen.

What is an interesting fact about you that most people would find surprising or unexpected?

I love to write poetry. People find this surprising because I love policy and politics so much, but I really enjoy writing. I also really don’t like bread. At all.

Where is your favorite spot on campus?

Right now, I would have to say Dunn Meadow, it’s beautiful in the fall!

What is your favorite thing about Bloomington?

I love the diversity, and the progressive atmosphere! I can walk down a street and find food from so many places in the world, it’s amazing!

Tell us about your family.

I am the oldest of five children, and I’m very close to my both my parents and my maternal Grandmother, Grams. I love all of my siblings, especially my sister Char who keeps me in line, and my younger brother, who teaches me about football.

What is the best college experience you have had so far?

Though this sounds really Breakfast Club, the most fun I’ve had so far is just hanging out with friends in the lounge until 4 am doing homework…being able to live with some of your closest friends is really fun.

What do you want to do after you graduate?

I would like to work on the 2012 election campaigns, go to Law School, and eventually work with Law in the K-12 compulsory education system.

What music are you currently listening to?

Blue October, Pearl Jam, TI, Ra Ra Riot, Ciara, Ludacris

What is your advice to students interested in Indiana University?

ASK QUESTIONS! I know I did, and it helped me make the right decision. The staff here will go out of their way to help you find out what you need. I remember when I thought I was going to defer my freshman fall semester to work on a campaign- the Director of Scholarships herself personally responded to my emails. Everyone here is accessible- ask away, chances are, people are more than happy to answer any questions or alleviate any fears.
